Though I admire some people for their talents I would prefer not to meet them in person. Often those one looks up to do not measure up to one's admiration. They may be talented in some areas but they are still flawed mortals. This is not limited to the media. Long ago I met a rabbi who wrote books that I had really enjoyed at the time. When I met him I realized that he was a mere human. I suppose on the one hand that was good . One can be a mere human but aspire to much. At the time it just disappointed me. It should not have detracted from the greatness of his works, but it had. I would have preferred to have met him at a book event or a somewhere else where he was speaking so I could have just seen the smoke and mirrors and not seen the shlemiel he really was. Some things are better left to the imagination.

Power Trips
Often people who are in positions of power abuse their power .They think they can treat their subordinates as shoddily as possible just because they are their superior. This of course makes for lots of trouble when one has a job where people need to work together as a team when someone at the top tries to pit people against each other.
If one is smart one treats one's subordinates with respect. People work better in a positive environment.
I always wonder if some managers were always as disrespectful toward others or if they became that way because they were put in a position of power. Perhaps its a combination of the two. It does not have to be so negative. I have supervised others and its been positive. It is possible to be firm with others without being hostile and it is much easier to get people to work together in an environment of respect.
This is just my two cents.

verbal shorthand
the best kinds of relationships are when two people speak the same language so much so that they dont need to finish their sentences when they speak to each other. ive had alot of relationships where the other person THINKS they get what im saying but dont. im not speaking of THOSE types of relationships. im speaking of the type of relationship where two people actually are speaking the same "language" . its so comfortable to have this verbal shorthand. so sad when its over. so hard to rebuild. so worth the effort though. the eternal quest for mutual appreciation and understanding for the essence of another.... the search continues....
