shell shock

when i was growing up the only garment referred to as a shell was a sleeveless shirt with a conservative neckline  whenever i hear people referring to a clingy long sleeved shirt as a shell i get annoyed because this is not really a shell. nevertheless, recently i have purchased  a few clingy long sleeved  "shells" in jewish flatbush because they are the only shirt of its kind that is opaque even in white. i even purchased the high necklined sleeveless shells for the same reason. they are opaque. i cringe when i buy them though i admit they fulfill their purpose.

If you don't want clingy you can size up. I wear a size 4-6, yet I have a shell in Large (and it's not too loose at all).

And my 15 year old daughter who wears a size 2-4 bought a pencil skirt in a frum store in a size large - and it's not too loose.

I can't imagine who's wearing the sizes XS, S, and M - third graders? And I wonder where people who wear average sizes like 8, 10, and 12 go for clothes - the frum stores don't have clothes for them, apparently.

yes, i have noticed that the sizing is on the small side. i actually found one brand that isn't so bad. the linda leal ones arent sized too small.i could wear the small comfortably and i wear a size xs at the gap and a small at old navy. so that wasnt too bad. i probably would wear a large in the kiki rikis but i didnt bother trying one on. i hear they shrink. i figured that they made the extra small sizes for teens, but apparently even teens who are quite petite are finding the small sizes too small. oy.
