the fate of the out of towner

when you live near your family it is easy to visit them for a short while and then go home . when you live further away you don't have to see them as often but when you do its in a large dose that probably involves an overnight stay. it can be nice but in another way it can be overwhelming. when i am away from my family i miss them but when i am visiting them i miss my freedom. i guess that's par for the course.
the other difficult part about living far away from the rest of one's family is that when you know some relatives are older you fear that every time you see them may be the last.
there can be a lot of good reasons to live far from one's family but it really is a mixed bag of emotions.

I feel the same way.
When i went home for pesach, i was so excited because it had been so long since i was home. The first few days were great..and then it got to be too much.

I like to be far, and by far, I mean with an ocean in between. But if i ever get homesick then i can always fall back on my married siblings

The hard part is during holidays if you can't get home.
