i realise that in view of recent current events that this tidbit is not on any one's radar, but it has not escaped mine. it is no small coincidence that the closing of all borders bookstores has been announced today (shiva assar b'tammuz). i for one am despondent. is barnes and noble far behind?

Do you think that the closing of Borders is on par with the 5 tradegys ?
lol. of course not. all i meant that it is no coincidence that another sad thing happened on a day that is designated for sadness. there is so much sadness in this world and yes something as mundane as a bookstore is a welcome escape from a world of compounding tragedy.when one of my favorite escapes is closed down i find this sad. one cannot be sad all of the time. anyway there is no contest for saddest because of course there are is always something worse, but to me this is not the point.
oh no! I hadn't heard!
I think Barnes and Nobles will make it for longer because they offer the "barnes and nobles experience".
You know, i didn't fast this year and it made such a difference in feeling the ambiance on the day. I read ur simple post abt another reason to be sad on that day and its funny to think that had i been in that mood too it wud sadden me. But hey, so much happens these days that you just take the news, say it over, and move on :(
